Our Beavers have just spent an evening making and decorating pancakes. They also made some chocolate play-do!
As it is nearly Shrove Tuesday, we decided to make pancakes! The Beavers were able to get creative adding food colouring and flavours to the UI really batter. We certainly had some creative colours. Ever seen rainbow pancakes?
We had plenty of pans on the go. Thankfully, the pancakes cooked quickly so we did not have too many hungry Beavers!
Everything must have been pretty tasty, because most of the Beavers wanted seconds. The proof of the pudding was indeed in the eating!
Our Young Leader had worked hard to plan an activity where the Beavers could make their own edible Play-Do. The original idea was to use it to decorate the crepes. Timings did not quite match up, but not to worry.
There was the chance to make both chocolate and oaty play-do. The Beavers were initially a bit cautious about the idea of porridge, but in the end they lived it! It goes without saying that the chocolate went down a storm.
An interesting activity, and the Beavers absolutely loved it. May we apologise to parents for any Beavers that returned home having eaten more sugar than us wise in the evening!
Could I just say a big thank you to the parents who were able to help us this evening (and also to the District Commissioner, who just happened to pop in). We needed a couple of extra adults for this activity, and you made it possible.
Next week, we are hoping to start work on the Disability Awareness activity badge. We will be thinking about some of the challenges faced by people with a range of disabilities, and how we can make simple changes to help them. We look forward to seeing you all then.
